An exotic wood from Central and South America with a dramatic natural purple color. Purpleheart is among the heaviest of all craft woods. Purpleheart trees can reach heights of 150 feet with a diameter of 5 feet. When first cut, purpleheart is often brown and it does not achieve its full purple color until exposed to sunlight.  However, too much exposure darkens the wood and it loses its richness. Purpleheart can feel different to each user.
