OSAGE ORANGE (HEDGE APPLE)

Named Bois d’Arc by french settlers, and osage orange by English. After the Great Plains tribe and the tree’s large fruit, this wood is extremely spiritual in nature, especially related to matters dealing with earth energy. These trees seem assertively protective, they emit robust and creative energy, fierce protectiveness, groundedness, wildness, creativity, and adaptability. Though the osage orange is rooted and grounded like any other tree, they do not see centuries go by as do redwoods, oaks, and some other elder trees, so perhaps some of that fierce protectiveness is from knowing that its life is short by comparison and that life needs be both experienced and protected.

This wood aides in the pursuit of goals and passions and it has a talent for repelling energies that are unwanted. It can create a bond with the mind which can be both a curse and a blessing. It has a primary deep connection with the element of Spirit. Osage's secondary element,  Fire, can be very focused, unyielding in its intensity,  however, much easier to navigate.
