Cumaro Aka Cumaru Traditional Length Wand

Cumaro or Cumaru, Dipteryx odorata is most commonly known as the tonka bean tree, or Brazilian teak. Native to Northern South America, this tree is valued for its highly aromatic seeds (tonka beans) used in perfume and food, as well as its dense, durable wood used in construction.

Extremely durable known as "Iron Cumaru" it is a very heavy, dense wood with a high hardness rating, resisting rot, decay, and termites. The wood and beans contain high levels of Coumarin, giving off a sweet, vanilla-cinnamon scent. The wood ranges from light golden brown to reddish-brown, often developing a silver-gray patina when left untreated outdoors.

The bark is used in traditional medicine to brew teas for respiratory issues, while seed oil is applied for ear infections. The ashes of Cumaru wood are used in sacred Rapé blends, valued for their ability to cleanse, dry up negative energy, and provide a potent, grounding experience.

Due to its immense physical density and strength, the wood is associated with grounding, stability, and helping to bring one back to the "here and now". Called the “Tree that Does Not Rot": Indigenous traditions, such as the Huni Kuin, respect Cumaru as a symbol of integrity and strength, believing it carries ancient, enduring energy. 

The seeds, or Tonka beans, are often referred to as "magic beans." They are used in rituals to attract good luck, love, and for making wishes.

Cumaru is essentially viewed as strong, and protective, both as a physical material for building and as a spirit-filled plant used for energetic healing. Cumaru is known for its grounding properties and emotional stability, as well Cumaru is believed to create a protective shield against negative energies and evil eyes.

In shamanic practices the wood is used to enhance concentration, sharpen awareness, and facilitate meditation. It is also associated with calming, restoring inner balance, and aiding in the release of stuck emotions.
