Crows are potent and widespread symbols in spiritual practices. There is too much about crows and their related mythology and symbolism to put in a listing.

As long at the focus and intent are in alignment with the symbiology then the effects of the casting will attach and hold. Meaning that if you can find a way to associate the function of the form to the color correspondence, then it should be effective.
